Hi Robin – I’m afraid I don’t know enough about zinc plated stainless steel to make a statement on its safety. Generally stainless steel is a very safe material to use. I haven’t yet taken the plunge on buying an air fryer!

I’ve been searching for a non-toxic air fryer and settled on the SP101 ninja foodi. The interior is stainless steel. Then I saw the updated model that can do 11 things instead of 8. I got a really great deal on it but I’m afraid to use it because I just found out that the interior is zinc plated stainless steel. Isn’t zinc hazardous when heated? Which do you think is the safer option? We are chemically sensitive.
